Used to Be Seamless. Now It’s Just Stressful.
I’ve been a long time Rakuten user and used to appreciate how easy and hassle-free the cash back experience was. Unfortunately, things have taken a sharp turn for the worse.
After completing a travel booking through Rakuten, I waited over six weeks only to receive a small portion of the expected cashback. Despite multiple follow-ups, they refused to honor the cashback for the flight tickets, claiming they weren’t included—even though this wasn’t made clear up front. The entire process felt like I had to fight for something that should’ve been automatic.
I wish I could say that was a one-time issue, but just a few weeks later, I made another purchase during their recent 12% Shark promotion on June 30, 2025—through their browser extension, with all terms and conditions carefully reviewed (and screenshots saved, just in case). As of today, July 5th, I’ve received zero cash back, even though the item shipped and all eligibility criterias were met.
After filling out their web form with full details (order number, amount, everything), I got no response. When someone finally replied and requested more info—which I provided promptly—I was met with silence again. It wasn’t until I resubmitted another request that the issue was escalated. And even then, the supervisor asked for details I’d already submitted. At this point, I’m starting to wonder if Rakuten even reads the information they ask users to submit over and over again.
I expect a reliable, user-friendly service—not one that requires constant chasing, form-filling, and weeks of back-and-forth just to receive what was promised. If this is the new standard of customer service, Rakuten should seriously re-evaluate what it means to “reward” its members.

Amazing Team and Free Savings!
No matter the problem their team is always there to help! I was skeptical at first and seemed like some sort of scam but I assure you its not. I can't believe everyone in the world isn't using this for every purchase they make on the internet its basically free savings!

Quality service !!
I have had to reach out once in awhile for missing points and am always pleased with the speed of service and the outcome. This latest one was quite particular and has transpired over several weeks - each interaction was always quick and clearly an attempt to find a solution. The issue has been resolved to my complete satisfaction and I have to commend in particular Ted for his excellent service and Rakuten's decision regarding the issue. Have had problems for months trying to…
Have had problems for months trying to get back "my cash back". "Cash Back on Purchases" seems to change at will, something is there one day and gone the next, or the problem with ie (LEGO.ca) have had nothing but problems getting cash back, apparently lego says I've gone through another program, but I've always used Rakuten, I don't even know of other cash back sites. Rakuten has in the past paid me for missing items, but because it still continues, nothing gets done.
Rakuten tells you it can take up to 45 days for things to show up, but on many of my purchases have been posted within a day or 2, and others that don't show up within the 45 days never do show up.
Needless to say I'm not happy, having to spend hours on these issues, so far I have approx. 20 purchases that either haven't shown up or have been deleted.

Ted is what you'd call a boss at customer service. He swooped in to make the situation right after a slight blip with the cashback calculation. I couldn't ask for a better email exchange and Rakuten is lucky to have them.

Worst cash back site I’ve ever used
It used to be good 7 years ago… Rakuten has become greedy. They started charging maintenance fees with no reason. I’m done with this trash site. Usually doesn’t log payments have to follow up on cash back, and makes your wait 3 months to pay out (then you get charged maintenance fees each month of 5$!) it’s become a scam. To use my shopping data for the pettiest amount of cash back only to steal it in maintenance fees is atrocious. I’m not giving my data to Rakuten for free, BYEEEE!!!
Look elsewhere stop giving your previous data for free!

Rakuten did not pay my cashback
The cashbacks do not always work.
My most significant case is that I have a transaction for which Rakuten owes me close to 1,500$ and Rakuten does not want to pay because apparently they haven't received the commission from their partner.
I have provided Rakuten with a copy of the invoice, screenshots of my Rakuten reference number, my purchase confirmation number, etc...
I have explained to Rakuten that their issues with their supplier is none of my problem and that I have done all of the required actions to receive my cashback. Still, after close to 12 months of back and forth with their customer support team, I still haven't been paid.
This is very frustrating.
Note to Rakuten team: I am open to change this review if ever my cashback gets paid.

Some of the orders never went on Rakuten for a bunch of excuses and they wouldn't honor them even when submitted receipts.
TEMU has so many rules (read the void rules fine print) so you will NEVER make any on that. SUCH A SCAM I'm so done

I would certainly recommend this program though. Make money while shopping, why not?!!
